Here is some important information for next week.

• Chaperones are needed for the trip. Keep in mind their will be hiking involved
• The fieldtrip will be on Monday and Wednesday. They should dress comfortably and wear shoes for hiking. No heels!
• Lunches should be packed for both days.
• Please e-mail me to let me know that you can chaperone.
• 5 paragraph essays are due typed by Wednesday December 3rd. Please save it on your home computer so they can make corrections. I will collect it on Thursday because of the fieldtrip.

Here is some important information regarding our school week.

 My Math class will have a Friday quiz covering Chapter 2
 Please remember that the non-fiction book report is due on Wednesday.
 Make sure you check and make sure your child is completing their Spelling. There were a lot of unfinished packets last week.
 We are wrapping up Social Studies this week. Your child will have a quiz on Tuesday on Unit 4 in We the People. I will send home a study sheet on Friday.
 We just finished the book Sign o the Beaver. I purchased the movie which we will watch next week. Your child will be comparing the movie to the book in a compare and contrast essay.
 The students completed a five paragraph sensory essay about Autumn. They are responsible for typing their rough draft at home and bringing it in school. It will be due December 3rd. Please save their work so I can make corrections. They must have a heading and use the font Times New Roman size 14. All paragraphs should be indented using the tab space not the space bar. Please sit with them and help them format their papers. Our computer lab has had some technical difficulties. If you so not have access to a computer please send me in a note.
 The students will be assigned a Biography book report after Thanksgiving because of the writing assignment.

I understand that 5th graders can be somewhat opinionated about what they want to where and that getting them to bring a coat can be difficult. Please encourage them to dress for the weather. I have many students that are freezing at recess. It does not help that our weather is a little unpredictable.

This week the students have been assigned a non-fiction book report that will be due next Wednesday, November 19th. Please make sure you help them select a book that challenges them. Avoid biographies because our next assignment will be a biography book report. Thank you for you support. All of the students turned in their reports on time. This week is a short week because of the election. I hope your children were able to stay up and absorb the electoral process. Most of them were unaware of the process before I taught them. It was interesting how many thought that the popular vote should decide the winner. They will not have a Spelling test this week. Thier Vocabulary test will be on Wednesday afternoon. Because of our party Friday, the test had to be moved to this week. In Math their will not be a Friday Quiz this week as well. We will be covering multiplying decimals.
Our classroom is getting new windows on Wednesday and we will be relocated in the computer lab Wendesday after our fieldtrip. We will be on our ESSL trip form 9:00-11:00 a.m
